Karina is an English singer/songwriter born in North London, England. She has performed at venues including The Marriott hotel in Grosvenor Square on behalf of the charity FOCSA (Friends of Colombia for Social Aid) at their annual charity events. Other spots include The Mandarin Oriental (Knightsbridge) and The HispaƱiola Restaurant/Boat where she performed as a regular vocalist with the resident pianist, Norman Treiger. She has recorded and released her own songs as well as singing backing vocals for several recording artists in the music industry. Karina has studied both classical and contemporary music and received formal training in the area of classical voice, as well as studying vocal technique at Los Angeles Music Academy. Karina sings in a variety of styles including Latin, Jazz and Brazilian music with a repertoire that includes Bossa Nova and Latin- Jazz, which involves singing in the languages of these styles.
Influences include Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Amy Winehouse, Diana Krall, Stacey Kent and Astrud Gilberto.
Karina has performed with session musicians and other professionals in the music industry and also composes her own music. She currently performs with a Latin band and performs music from a wide range of musical genres including soul, jazz, musical theatre and opera.
